Welcome to the Traveling Wheelchair Zine:
The
The Traveling Wheelchair is a blog written by Kenny and Co. Kenny is a 31 year old wheelchair bound young man. Kenny has been wheelchair bound since the age of eleven, when he suffered from a massive cerebral hemorrhage, caused by a ruptured AVM (Arterial Venous Malformation). He was in a coma for eight months and when he woke up, his life had totally changed. Unable to move his left side, with slurred speech, and legally blind, Kenny became fully dependent on his wheelchair for all mobility.
Kenny knows firsthand that people in wheelchairs face many obstacles when traveling in the community. Too often, public places are not fully wheelchair accessible as they claim to be and too often many in wheelchairs have been disappointed in the lack of accessibility of many public places.
Kenny & his circle of friends write short reviews of the wheelchair accessibility of the places that they visit. We rate the wheelchair accessibility by using a Star rating. Five Stars ***** means that the place is fully handicap accessible. If the place does not receive five stars, then we will write some suggestions of how those places can improve on accessibility in order to earn five stars.
We hope that this web site will help all of the other citizens in wheelchairs. We also hope it will help the public realize how very important it is for all citizens to have full access to all public places!

Thank you for your contribution. You've taken a huge step to making Povo the "word on the street,"
and we appreciate it very much. Because of the complexity of the "wiki text" and code that can be used
on Povo, in order to edit this section in the future you must click the "edit" button to the right of the section
heading (or for the whole page).
