Help:Automatic Links
This page was redirected from Automatic Links
Automatic links are one of the ways you can use Povo content and tools on your site. For a complete list see Help:Syndication.
You can generally take the URL of any page you see on Povo and use it as a link for your blog or site. The goal of automatic linking is to let you make links to Povo pages and listings without "looking it up" on Povo first. If you're writing on your blog about what you did Friday night, it might include a variety of links (let's say you went to Aquitaine then to Fenway Park for a game and King's for some bowling and drinks). It would be a bit annoying to have to look each of them up on Povo individually. Automatic Linking allows you to just "assume" what the link should be, and then verify them afterwards. When making a link, just describe the place you're linking to, for example:
http://boston.povo.com/Aquitaine
http://boston.povo.com/King's_near_Fenway_Park
http://boston.povo.com/Appleton_Cafe_in_the_South_End
After you put links into your site or blog, click on them. If you're lucky, it will just work. Otherwise, Povo will present you with a list of likely options for what it should've linked to. Pick one of them and then click "Save Shortcut" and the link will automatically go to the right place in the future.
Easy!
